In an emergency

Flush first. For a splash or a needlestick, get to the eyewash or sink and stay there for 15 minutes while someone else makes the calls.
Every exposure must be reported to the EH&S hotline within 8 hours. Reporting is a compliance requirement, not a judgement call, and investigations are non-punitive.

Say that this is an occupational laboratory exposure and needs immediate attention. If lentiviral vector was involved, take the lentivirus Post-Exposure Plan with you — it is the only Post-Exposure Plan this lab holds. For anything else, tell the clinician exactly what you were working with.
